What to Expect
Tesla Energy is looking for an experienced Quality Leader for its site. In this role, you will lead a world class quality team to support the manufacturing of high‑quality residential and solar products to drive the mission to accelerate the world’s transition towards sustainable energy. This is a dynamic position where you work with several engineering groups, supply chain, production, commissioning, and service teams to proactively develop products and processes to be built right first time, and continuously improve them to meet customer expectations and profitability goals. The successful candidate for this position must be a problem‑solver and demonstrated leader, have a strong quality & customer focused mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Lead quality engineers to support production lines for site and build a network across factories to leverage good practices and continuous improvement
Establish and meet clear quality metrics and objectives for site and Energy business
Drive professional problem solving to root cause and correct failures in production and the field
Master and nurture a data driven team with advanced statistical, analysis and visualization skills
Support a 24x7 global business with the needed sense of urgency to protect Tesla customers and business, while enabling work‑life balance, commitment, and fun at work
Develop and motivate a high performing team of exceptional engineers and engineering technicians to be proud to take place in Tesla's mission to transition the world towards sustainable energy
Create and maintain PFMEAs to determine potential risks in manufacturing process and drive resolution of high‑risk issues into process controls
Establish and maintain Control Plans to assure critical features are controlled and monitored through the assembly/production processes
Develop and implement Quality Key Points for visual inspection that meets product specifications used by in‑process inspections and quality audits
Create schedule for regular audits and inspections to be performed by Quality Technicians across all product lines
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
5+ years as a Quality Engineer with prior experience leading a team of engineers
Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and implement changes
Experience conducting PFMEAs for production processes
Experience in ISO‑9001, QS‑9000, ISO/TS/IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP is a plus
Experience in 6‑Sigma
Specific training and demonstrated success in applying quality problem solving methods, such as fishbone diagrams and/or 8D, and implementing successful countermeasures
Strong quantitative and data analysis skills, including process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, and similar
Proficiency in SQL, R, Minitab (or similar), is a plus
Experience with broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques
