MUSC Health Florence Pulmonary Critical Care is seeking a Nocturnal Advanced Practice Provider that assesses, plans, and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician. The provider examines patients, performs comprehensive physical examinations, compiles patient medical data, orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests, participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries.

Required Minimum Training and Experience

Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below

Required Experience

Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience

Preferred Training and Experience

Physician Assistant or if APRN License Type/Certification: Physician Assistant, APRN, AGACNP/ACNP (Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)

Preferred Experience

ICU experience

Degree of Supervision

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) If applicable, DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.

Job Duties

Provides direct care to patients through activities such as taking comprehensive history, performing physical examinations, evaluating and treating based on diagnostic test results, performing therapeutic procedures under procedural privileges, initiating referrals, documenting and billing, utilizing evidence-based decision-making, participating in quality improvement activities, supporting accreditation and compliance, maintaining licenses and certifications, and potential to precept students.

Physical Requirements

Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, seeing and recognizing objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.
