About this Position As an Acute Care Speech‑Language Pathologist at Lee Health, you will evaluate and treat patients with a wide range of communication, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. You may encounter patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, surgery, or complex medical conditions, and will work closely with physicians, nurses, and therapists to provide timely, evidence‑based interventions. This fast‑paced setting offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes, while collaborating within a supportive, multidisciplinary team dedicated to high‑quality, compassionate care.

In this role you will be responsible for providing screening, evaluation, treatment, and education for those who demonstrate impairments of speech, language, cognitive‑communication, voice, fluency, and/or swallowing. The Speech‑Language Pathologist is responsible for adherence to and compliance with all American Speech‑Language Pathology (ASHA) professional standards. The SLP is engaged in administration, consultation, education and research. The SLP is expected to conduct themselves in an effective professional behavior manner. The attributes, characteristics or behaviors required for success in this job include: critical thinking, communication, problem solving, interpersonal skills, responsibility, professionalism, use of constructive feedback, effective use of time and resources, stress management, and commitment to learning.

About our Rehabilitation Team Our Rehabilitation Services team is one of the largest and most dynamic in the region. With over 700 skilled professionals dedicated to helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence through comprehensive, compassionate care. Our licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists work closely with medical teams to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs. Beyond core therapy services, we offer a variety of

specialty programs

including neurological rehabilitation, vestibular and balance therapy, lymphedema management, pelvic health therapy, and oncology rehabilitation. With services spanning

acute care, skilled nursing, home health, and outpatient settings , our team delivers exceptional, evidence‑based care that restores function and enhances quality of life.

What this Position Requires

Education:

Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology.

Experience:

Certificate of Clinical Competency.

Certification:

BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support).

License:

Active Florida State Speech Language Pathologist Licensure.
