Job Title: Iron Worker

The Iron Worker is responsible for fabricating new pieces and using these fabrications for building the final product. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, along with one to three years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

Steel fabrication, including working with steel, wood, construction, pouring concrete, setting forms, and finishing.

Building repair, such as roofing, siding, sloshing, overhead doors, man doors, and windows.

Rebuilding, bricking, and plumbing of electrical furnaces.

Wearing required safety equipment and following all safety procedures and instructions.

Requirements

On-the-job training.

Blueprint reading skills.

Safety training for Mobile Crane operation, including rigging procedures.

Certified Welder's Certificate is preferred.

Physical Demands

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment

The work involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles; occasional exposure to high places, chemicals, electrical hazards, and vibration. The noise level is usually loud.
