Overview
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Duties
The incumbent serves as an Advanced Diagnostic Radiology Technologist in the Mammography/Breast Imaging section of the Imaging Services Department. Performs independent technical work in support of the mammography section under the direction of a radiologist. Operates Mammographic, Tomosynthesis, Stereotactic, Ultrasound, and DEXA equipment as part of the diagnostic plan for patient care. The technologist provides technical training and assistance to other personnel and provides indirect support to the Chief Technologist and Lead Technologists. Position includes general management of patient flow, quality of work, and supply restocking. The incumbent will assume all assigned duties of the Lead Mammography Quality Control (LMQC) technologist in their absence. The primary duties will be in Mammography but will require the incumbent to perform other general diagnostic radiology procedures at either the Downtown or Uptown facilities, when necessary. All Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists must be knowledgeable in Computerized Radiography (CR) and Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS). The incumbent is responsible for performing safe radiation practices in order to reduce exposure to the patient. Requirements
Meet requirements outlined in 21 CFR 900.12(a)(2) and maintain Advanced Registry in Mammography, provided by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology. Perform independent technical work in support of mammography section under radiologist direction. Operate mammographic, tomosynthesis, stereotactic, ultrasound, and DEXA equipment as part of diagnostic plan for patient care. Provide technical training and assistance to other personnel and indirect support to Chief Technologist and Lead Technologists. Manage patient flow, quality of work, and supply restocking. Assume duties of Lead Mammography Quality Control technologist in their absence. Perform other general diagnostic radiology procedures at Downtown or Uptown facilities when necessary.
