Cardiac Sonographer – PRN
UAB St Vincent’s – UAB Medicine, Oneonta, AL.
Department: General Radiology. Schedule: PRN.
Overview Cardiac Sonography specializing in Echo. With access to cutting‑edge technology and a supportive team, you will deliver high‑quality care and contribute to positive outcomes.
What You Will Do
Perform diagnostic procedures using ultrasound to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation.
Set up and adjust equipment; manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.
Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures.
Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of imaging procedures.
Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
Ensure equipment is functioning and report problems or malfunctions; lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
Ensure prompt submission of high‑quality images and documents to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers, patient data/history).
Assist in maintaining a clean, orderly department including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and other areas in the department.
Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need Licensure / Certification / Registration
BLS Provider obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
One or more of the following:
Cardiographic Sonographer credentialed by CCI (obtained prior to hire or job transfer).
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) issued by CCI.
Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed by ARRT (obtained prior to or within 12 months of hire).
Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed by ARRT (obtained prior to or within 12 months of hire).
Vascular Technologist (VT) credentialed by ARDMS (obtained prior to hire).
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credentialed by ARDMS (obtained within 12 months of hire).
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent with 2 years of experience or Associate’s degree required; graduate of an accredited sonography program preferred.
