PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Mechanical Foreman oversees shop and service track operations, manages heavy repairs, and coordinates responses to main line outages. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical repair expertise on locomotives and cars.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Organize daily work schedules and supervise employees conducting maintenance.
Set clear expectations and ensure accountability for staff in the shop, yard, or service island.
Train craftspeople in all aspects of locomotive and car repairs, and evaluate the quality of their work.
Conduct safety briefings and reinforce safety protocols with the team.
Lead and coordinate multiple workforce groups and projects simultaneously.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general equivalency.
Valid driver’s license.
Minimum 3 years of experience in both car and locomotive maintenance.
Familiarity with FRA and AAR Rules and Regulations, and ability to prepare and accurately fill required forms.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Strong understanding of SAP, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office programs.
