Responsibilities
Perform routine, emergency, Doppler, and special (contrast echos and TEE echos) procedures without cardiologist assistance.
Lead or participate in departmental/hospital committees and quality monitoring activities.
Establish effective customer relations and maintain a positive work environment.
Initiate code procedures and provide first aid/CPR when necessary.
Maintain equipment: clean, perform minor repairs, and report major repairs.
Complete additional job duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
Technical Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Technical Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography
Experience Qualifications
1–3 years of Echocardiography experience
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in performing echo examinations in the designated area.
Strong technical knowledge for complex assignments.
Efficient performance in crisis situations.
Capacity to precept and train new echocardiographers.
Knowledgeable in guiding, teaching, and mentoring other technicians.
Ability to assess vital signs and intervene when necessary.
Competence in preparing moderately complex written materials such as patient records.
Excellent verbal communication with associates, physicians, and other professionals.
Work independently with sound judgment.
Organize multiple tasks or projects and maintain workflow control.
Flexibility to float to MLH sites or clinics for procedures.
Licenses and Certifications
Heart Saver – American Heart Association
Registered Cardiac Sonographer – Cardiovascular Credentialing International
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer – Adult Echocardiography – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer – Pediatric Echocardiography – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Physical Demands
Climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, repetitive motion.
Balance and coordination required.
Medium physical effort – up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, up to 25 lbs of force frequently.
Visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision for patient assessment, data analysis, and computer work.
Frequent invasive and non‑invasive patient contact.
Exposure to patient fluids and hazardous materials.
Rapid emergency response capability.
