Process Engineer

to optimize production line performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives at its facility near Rockford, IL. This mid‑level engineering role offers the opportunity to make a measurable impact on operational efficiency, packaging innovation, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Key responsibilities include enhancing performance across multiple production lines, improving OEE, reducing scrap, managing changeovers, leading packaging material transitions, equipment upgrades, and installations, while serving as a key change agent across departments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support continuous improvement projects across packaging and production lines.

Analyze process capability using statistical tools and IL6S methodologies (e.g., 5S, CIL, Centerlines, Visual Standards).

Collaborate cross‑functionally to implement productivity enhancements and equipment upgrades.

Drive employee capability building through coaching, mentoring, and training.

Deliver measurable results through data‑driven problem solving and team leadership.

Support packaging design and equipment installation, including start‑up execution.

Engage in employee development and operational excellence initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or related field.

2–5 years of engineering experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) or similar industries.

Proven experience in packaging design, equipment installation, and start‑up execution.

Strong knowledge of packaging materials (corrugated, paperboard, flexible films, rigid packaging).

Familiarity with automated packing equipment (VFFS, HFFS, flow wrapping, bottling lines).

Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or other World Class Manufacturing systems.

Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred.

Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and statistical analysis tools.

Willingness to work off‑shifts and weekends as needed.
