Job Details: Senior Surveyor
My client is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Surveyor to join their team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead survey operations, mentor field staff, and support engineering design projects across a range of civil and land development initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills in AutoCAD and surveying computation with proven leadership experience in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor survey and field teams, managing daily assignments and quality control.
Perform and oversee coordinate geometry computations, data processing, and field data management.
Develop topographic base maps, surface models, subdivision plats, and construction stakeout plans.
Prepare and review development plans, physical surveys, easement plats, ALTA / ACSM surveys, and record drawings.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, attorneys, and local municipalities to ensure project compliance.
Prepare submittal packages and respond to review comments efficiently and accurately.
Required Qualifications
5–7 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief or in a similar leadership role.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, coordinate geometry, and survey data processing.
Hands‑on experience with field procedures, survey instruments, and data collection methods.
Strong understanding of property boundaries, subdivision layout, and relevant survey laws.
Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and survey software (Trimble Business Center, TerraModel, or equivalent).
Valid Virginia driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience preparing ALTA / ACSM surveys, FEMA flood certificates, and other regulatory documentation.
Familiarity with GIS software (AutoCAD Map, ESRI, ArcView).
Strong math aptitude, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Demonstrated reliability and a collaborative approach to problem‑solving.
