LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking highly skilled applicants for the position of Electrician.

Key Details Starting rate $19.67 per hour with additional $1 Longevity pay. Rate may be adjusted based on qualifications.

Responsibilities

Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs electrical wiring (underground and above ground), conduit, external light fixtures and poles, interior light fixtures, power appliances, light machinery, electrical controls, transformers, motor stater, related switchgear and controls, outlets and all other related electrical circuits and equipment including in-house renovations.

Performs preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.

Performs electrical‑related demolition and construction work on minor projects throughout the campus.

Supervises lesser skilled workers in the absence of Electrician Master.

Responds to campus maintenance emergencies.

Picking up parts and materials from vendors.

Assists other trades as needed.

Requirements • Two years of experience in the electrical trade (e.g., Electrician’s helper).

• Willingness to perform preventive maintenance and demolition work.

• Ability to work with or supervise skilled and unskilled workers.

Civil Service Position

This is a Civil Service Position.

This position does not require applicants to take a Civil Service test.

Pre‑employment drug testing, physical, and criminal background check are required.

This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months.
