Roadway Design Engineer

As a roadway design engineer, you’ll support transportation improvement projects with the design and detailing of local, county, and state roadway and highway projects. You’ll assist with geometric analyses and calculations using established design criteria and standard software. The roadway design engineer reports to the project manager.

What You'll Do

Assist with developing typical sections, alignments, profiles, layouts, and cross‑sections.

Support design team in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for specific tasks and quantity calculations.

Monitor compliance with applicable codes and engineering practices.

Perform engineering calculations and estimates.

Collect and process data for topographic surveys and right‑of‑way engineering for use in design analysis.

Operate standard office equipment in a hybrid office/field environment; may occasionally require working in inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, or hazardous conditions.

Perform physical tasks as required, including operating a company vehicle and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.

What You'll Need

Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Minimum four years of transportation engineering experience.

Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Proficiency in Microstation, AutoCAD, and Civil3D software.

Hybrid job requiring office and field work; exposure to varied environmental conditions as projects demand.

Physical demands include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
