Senior Network Engineer/Secret Clearance/Onsite

A federal consulting agency in South Jersey is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support secure, high-performance network infrastructure within a mission‑critical environment. This full‑time, onsite position offers the opportunity to play a key role in designing, maintaining, and improving complex enterprise and classified network systems that support government clients and national initiatives.
This role provides the chance to work with advanced technologies in a stable setting, supported by a collaborative team. The position allows for continued technical growth and the opportunity to make a direct impact on high‑visibility federal projects.
Contract Duration: 6 months, contract to hire
Required Skills & Experience
7+ years of experience in network engineering or administration within enterprise or government environments
Strong understanding of network infrastructure, network security, and hardware technologies
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
Knowledge of TCP/IP and IPv4 networking, including troubleshooting connectivity issues involving Spanning Tree, DNS, and DHCP
Experience with data center and remote office technologies such as Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, Fortinet and Cisco ASA firewalls, Zscaler, SD‑WAN, and private lines
Ability to ensure network alignment with STIG security requirements and maintain ongoing compliance
Experience maintaining and planning SolarWinds infrastructure
Familiarity with Layer 2 protocols such as STP, VTP, VLANs, and 802.1q trunking; routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP; and security protocols
Experience with wireless networking and related technologies (Cisco Wireless Controllers, CAPWAP, FlexConnect)
Proficiency with network management tools such as SolarWinds, Infoblox, and Cisco ISE
Ability to document, plan, and troubleshoot across multiple network platforms
Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
Desired Skills & Experience
CCNP, CISSP, or equivalent professional certification
Experience with automation and scripting
Familiarity with cloud networking
Experience supporting classified or secure federal environments
Understanding of QoS, multicast, and NAC technologies
