Phlebotomist Senior Brigham and Women’s Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham, is seeking a Phlebotomist Senior to oversee and coordinate phlebotomy procedures within our healthcare facility. Summary Responsible for overseeing and coordinating phlebotomy procedures, serving as a laboratory liaison to patients, nursing personnel, and staff, and ensuring excellence in quality and safety of blood collection and analysis. Essential Functions Supervise staff by overseeing and directing work of staff members, providing guidance and support as needed. Provide patients with all necessary information about the procedure; ensure patients are comfortable and safe. Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture; ensure complete and accurate specimens for testing; prepare specimens for processing and complete any associated paperwork. Mentor those learning phlebotomy with personnel duties such as orientation, training, input on performance evaluations, and coaching for performance improvement; provide direction and assist supervisor or designee in facilitating workflow to ensure duties are completed timely and accurately. Obtain required specimens/labels and transport to the specified area. Maintain accurate records of phlebotomy procedures, including patient information and test results. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Experience: 2–3 years in phlebotomy (required). Knowledge: Blood collection equipment, anticoagulants, special precautions, aseptic technique. Skills: Compassionate, warm and patient-focused; exceptional communication and professional behavior; detail-oriented.
