ICU RN Job Details
Job Title:
ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift
Location:
Alexandria, VA 22306 (Northern Virginia healthcare jobs)
Employment Type:
Travel Nursing, On-Site
Contract Duration:
13 weeks (10/27/2025 – 1/24/2026)
Shift:
12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week:
36 guaranteed
Weekend Requirement:
Every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
Holiday Requirement:
1 major and 1 minor holiday
Self-Scheduling & Block Scheduling:
Available in 6-week increments
ICU Nurse Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience (stepdown/critical care experience preferred)
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state
BLS and ACLS certifications required
NIHSS, CRRT, and CCRN certifications preferred (not required)
Proficient in titrating drips and managing ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow oxygen devices
Skilled in reading and interpreting EKG strips
Epic EMR experience preferred
Ability to float to PCU, 6B, and medical boarders as needed
Must wear navy blue scrubs
ICU RN Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill patients in a 12-bed intensive care unit
Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2
Care for patients with complex diagnoses, including cardiac arrest, COVID-19, stroke (CVA), sepsis, DKA, and more
Titrate IV drips and manage advanced respiratory equipment
Accurately read and interpret EKG strips for assigned patients
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including clinical technicians and respiratory therapists
Participate in a comprehensive orientation program (3 shifts with a preceptor)
Float to other units as needed and provide care for medical boarders
