Job Title: Pre/Licensed Psychologist or Pre/Licensed Therapist (Couples & Individual Therapy – Lakewood, CO)
Pay Range: Estimate 20-30 sessions/week COMPENSATION: • $33-$60 per clinical hour (based on licensure and experience) • Fee-for-service model (paid for direct client contact hours) • Transparent pay structure: - Pre-licensed (LAC, LSW, LMFT-C): $28-$38/hour - Newly licensed (0-2 years post-license): $33-$42/hour - Mid-level (2-5 years experience): $40-$50/hour - Experienced/Specialized (5+ years): $50-$60/hour
• Earning potential: $33,600-$72,000+ annually (based on 20-30 clinical hours/week)
Description of Althought Therapy: Althought Therapy is a boutique psychology practice in Lakewood, Colorado, founded by Dr. Samantha Awalt, Licensed Psychologist. We specialize in depth-oriented, relationship-centered therapy for individuals, couples, and parents seeking lasting change through insight, emotional attunement, and psychological growth. Our approach integrates attachment theory, neuroscience, and psychodynamic understanding within a trauma-informed framework to help clients understand their stories, break old patterns, and live with intention.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide individual, couples, and/or family therapy for assigned clients, with an emphasis on relational and couples work
Conduct thorough intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that integrate relational, developmental, and psychological understanding
Deliver evidence-based and depth-oriented interventions for couples, including Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and attachment-based approaches
Maintain clear, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with ethical and professional standards
Hold initial consultations with prospective clients (leads provided) and manage the process of scheduling, onboarding, and retaining clients
Actively build and maintain a full caseload through consistent follow-up, professional communication, and relationship-centered engagement
Collaborate in weekly clinical consultation meetings and contribute to a supportive, reflective team environment
Participate in ongoing professional development, supervision, and case consultation focused on clinical excellence and self-awareness
Stay informed of current psychological research, theory, and emerging practices in relational and trauma-informed therapy
Uphold confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and professional ethics at all times
Qualifications and Requirements
Doctorate (PhD/PsyD) or Master’s degree (LPC, LMFT, LCSW) in psychology, counseling, or a related behavioral health field
Active Colorado license or license eligibility (required)
Pre-licensed psychologists and LPCC/LPC candidates are welcome to apply — supervision toward licensure is provided
Minimum 2+ years of post-graduate clinical experience preferred
Specialized experience or strong interest in couples therapy, including pre-marital work and relational repair
Training or familiarity with the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), or other evidence-based couples modalities (preferred)
Solid understanding of attachment theory, family systems, and trauma-informed approaches
Demonstrated emotional attunement, professionalism, and capacity to hold complexity in session
Commitment to ongoing learning, personal growth, and integration of research into clinical practice
Excellent communication skills, reliability, and collaborative spirit
Schedule and Availability Requirements
Must be willing to
commute to the Lakewood, CO office 2–5 days per week
for in-person sessions
Expected to maintain a
consistent, ongoing in-office caseload
once established, with flexibility for telehealth sessions
May work a
hybrid schedule
that balances in-person and virtual clients once a stable caseload is achieved
Must be available to work
at least two evenings per week until 8:00–9:00 PM
to meet client scheduling needs
Willingness to offer
Saturday and/or Sunday sessions
is strongly encouraged to
build a caseload quickly
during the initial ramp-up period
Over time, clinicians may
refine and personalize their schedule
once a full caseload and steady referral flow are established
