PART TIME DOCK WORKER at UPS
This position is responsible for loading, unloading, shipping, receiving, scanning, sorting, and stocking packages. It may require the use of heavy machinery.
Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload cargo from trailers, ships, or other transport using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Operate motorized forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move, stack, and arrange freight.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, quality, and damage, and document shortages or damage while logging shipping information into a computer system.
- Organize and maintain the dock area, ensuring shipments are properly labeled and stored and that the workspace is clean.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure the well‑being of yourself and your team, including properly blocking and bracing freight.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Attention to detail – critical for accurately handling cargo, checking for discrepancies, and following shipping instructions.
- Experience or the ability to quickly learn to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Basic math and reading – essential for counting inventory and reading manifests and shipping documents.
- Teamwork – ability to work well with other dock workers and warehouse staff.
- Flexibility – willingness to work flexible part‑time hours, which may include nights, weekends, or holidays.
