Assistant Director - Community Living Service National Children’s Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that is one of the region’s largest non‑governmental providers of services for individuals with developmental disabilities, offering an array of services to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and adults in the Washington metropolitan area. Our mission is to provide a lifetime of opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Pay Range National Children’s Center (NCC) provided pay range: $85,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr

Schedule and Location Monday‑Friday 9am‑5pm (full time). Position is based in our Corporate Office in Silver Spring, MD and candidates must be able to travel to various locations throughout Montgomery County, Prince Georges County and Washington, DC on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities

Support the CLS Director in managing daily operations of residential homes that promote safety, dignity, and empowerment.

Provide direct supervision, coaching, and guidance to Program Coordinators; support staff development and provide regular performance feedback.

Complete annual performance evaluations and payroll for assigned direct reports.

Conduct audits of Program Coordinators’ files and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Plan, organize, and direct program activities that align with NCC’s mission and values.

Ensure Program Coordinators develop and implement program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures that meet all regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with Program Coordinators to secure and manage waiver authorizations consistent with individual support needs.

Identify challenges, analyze information, and provide technical guidance on program and service delivery.

Ensure services are delivered with quality, efficiency, and compliance with NCC policies and regulations.

Foster positive, respectful relationships with families, guardians, and community partners through consistent communication.

Monitor the Individual Support Plan (ISP) process to ensure timely planning, documentation, and quarterly reporting.

Ensure Program Coordinators develop outcomes that enhance Quality of Life and reflect what is important to and for the person supported.

Collaborate with the nursing department and day program to ensure coordinated care and service delivery.

Assist with admissions and discharges for the residential program.

Assist with soliciting new admissions and identify opportunities for program growth and revenue development.

Represent NCC at community meetings, outreach events, and/or fairs to build partnerships and promote services.

Ensure timely completion of incident recommendations, MCIS alerts, corrective actions, and Therap documentation, including approval of progress notes and attendance for billing.

Coordinate and/or conduct staff training to ensure new staff orientation and ongoing professional development reflect NCC’s standards of inclusion and quality.

Oversee Program Coordinators monitoring of individual finances in accordance with NCC, DDA, and DDS policies and procedures.

Participate in internal and external audits, surveys, quality improvement initiatives, and monitoring processes.

Education and Experience

B.A. Degree in a Human Services Field with one year of specialized training and two years’ experience working directly with people with Developmental Disabilities

Must have at least 6 years of experience in Human Services, of which 4 years are supervisory and administrative.

Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
