Regional Medical Director of Anesthesiology – UF Health Central Florida (Lake and Marion Counties) UF Health Central Florida is an award‑winning, locally owned and governed not‑for‑profit health care system and the largest, most comprehensive provider of health care services in the region. We care for patients in Lake, Sumter, and Marion counties through inpatient acute hospital services at UF Health The Villages Hospital and UF Health Leesburg Hospital, inpatient rehabilitation services at UF Health The Villages Rehabilitation Hospital, adult inpatient psychiatric services at the UF Health Leesburg Hospital Senior Behavioral Health Center and diagnostic laboratory services at several locations. UF Health Central Florida is currently seeking a Regional Medical Director of Anesthesiology. This physician will provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.

Responsibilities

Oversee the anesthesia services at a healthcare facility, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and safety.

Develop and implement policies and procedures related to anesthesia care.

Supervise and coordinate the activities of anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, and other anesthesia providers.

Collaborate with other medical professionals to develop an anesthesia care plan for each patient.

Coordinate with multiple disciplines to optimize the peri‑operative delivery of care.

Monitor and evaluate the performance of the anesthesia team, providing feedback and guidance as needed.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards related to anesthesia care.

Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and training of anesthesia staff.

Manage budgets and resources related to anesthesia services.

Keep abreast of advancements in anesthesia techniques and technologies, and recommend updates to clinical practices as needed.

Provide leadership and direction to the anesthesia team, fostering a culture of collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement.

Assume both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Expected Salary Commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements

Licensed to practice medicine in Florida (Chapter 458, Florida Statutes) plus four years of appropriate experience. Completion of a residency program may substitute for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Specialty license or certification; board certified or board eligible in a specified area of medical specialty.

Certification/licensure in the state of Florida and Federal DEA certification.
