Overview
Join our dynamic US Refining & Chemicals Laboratory Team as a Senior Chemist at our Port Arthur Platform. The purpose of the TotalEnergies Port Arthur Platform's Laboratory is to verify that petroleum streams and products meet all specifications. The Senior Chemist contributes time and effort to maximize all QA/QC systems, ensuring accurate and timely data delivery to customers.
Responsibilities
Ensure that hourly workers are properly trained, scheduled, and documented to support the Lab Supervisor.
Maintain and troubleshoot analytical equipment and ensure accurate analytical results.
Participate in special projects identified by lab supervisor, operations, engineering, etc., to optimize the refinery.
Maintain hardware and software systems on Lab computers and analyzer interfaces, including Labware and LIMS interfacing programs.
Update KRONOS time‑keeping records and maintain scheduling of Lab hourly workers in absence of Lab Supervisor.
Organize and schedule routine lab sampling, test runs, and special testing in coordination with process support group.
Help provide a safe workplace and assist in safety meetings.
Impart information to internal and external customers in a timely fashion.
Work closely with the La Porte Technical Center to provide technical support to operations and marketing.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related science, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in a similar laboratory field.
Strong laboratory instrumentation and computer skills.
Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to perform duties that may be hazardous and to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and call‑out duty.
Occasional travel for technical meetings, seminars, conferences, and other events.
