Engineering Manager
– Medline Industries, LP
The Engineering Manager will lead and develop a team of on-site process engineers. The team is responsible for improving Medline’s operational processes and providing direct engineering support to large distribution centers throughout the West and Southwest United States. This role collaborates across many areas of the organization at the facility, regional, and network‑wide level to drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Provide guidance and support to onsite engineers based at facilities throughout the West and Southwest United States.
Identify and improve opportunities in Safety, Quality, Service, Cost, and Turnover at local and network levels.
Drive process improvements using DMAIC or similar methodologies.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure new and improved processes are documented, tested, implemented, and sustained through proper change management.
Ensure quality and timely configuration of the WMS and LMS, including slotting, location maintenance, labor standards, engineering initiatives, and new business implementations.
Act as a resource for other engineers, providing knowledge on Medline’s operational processes and engineering configurations.
Required Experience
At least 5 years of engineering experience demonstrating technical writing, research paper writing, and/or experimental design skills.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
Preferred Experience
At least 7 years of experience in a related engineering role.
Experience in a distribution environment, including warehouse management systems, labor management systems, operational clock, inbound, replenishment, and outbound processes.
Experience mentoring others.
Experience with project and change management execution.
Experience delivering compliance‑based and consultative solutions to improve processes.
Experience with warehouse automation technologies.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree in a related Engineering discipline.
Required Skills
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment for design and production.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing efficient manufacture and/or distribution.
ERP systems knowledge and experience.
Creativity and alternative thinking to develop new ideas and solutions to work‑related problems.
Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work.
Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
Leadership ability to take charge and offer opinions and direction.
Intermediate skill level in computer and systems use (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Preferred Skills
Lean Training, Six Sigma Training, Tableau, or other statistical analysis packages.
Microsoft Access and SQL knowledge.
