RTW Investments, LP
RTW Investments, LP (“RTW”) is a global, full life‑cycle investment and innovation firm dedicated to solving the most challenging, unmet patient needs. We are focused on company building and identifying transformational and disruptive innovations across the biopharmaceutical and medical technologies sectors. Our investment philosophy combines a deep understanding of disease, biology, medicine, and technology with a comprehensive view of commercial opportunities and challenges. Our talented team brings hands‑on expertise in targeted areas of innovation, dedicated to the diligent exploration and support of emerging breakthroughs in both industry and academia.
Our mission is simple: we power breakthrough therapies that transform the lives of millions.
Overview We are seeking a hands‑on Director of Communications to lead, execute and scale the firm’s communications, content, and external visibility efforts through strategic public relations and executive relations management. This role will focus on implementation, coordination, and translating an established vision into action across channels. Sitting at the intersection of corporate communications, content production, and policy, this position will bring to life the firm’s existing communications strategy – supporting both our investor‑facing PR efforts and the growth of a modern think tank.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to produce high quality content, manage workflows, and ensure consistent delivery of materials that reflect our values and priorities across healthcare, innovation, and policy. This is a unique opportunity to drive execution within a defined vision, and bring our story to life, sharing how we engage with external audiences, and how we connect the dots between what we do and why it matters.
Key Responsibilities
Execute on established communications and vision, while over time contributing to idea generation and evolving the narrative
Partner with internal stakeholders to shape narratives that reflect our defined values and strategic focus areas (e.g. full life cycle investing, investing across the capital structure, innovation, rare disease, etc.)
Manage day‑to‑day communication activities, ensuring all materials align with firm priorities and tone
Translate complex themes into engaging, accessible content for various audiences, including investors and policy stakeholders
Coordinate with the firm’s external PR agency relationship and build personal brands of key leaders/storytellers at the firm
Support the execution of key announcements, campaigns, interviews, media engagements, and visibility efforts in biotech and investor ecosystems
Drive content production across platforms — from short‑form op‑eds to video, podcast, and social
Partner with think tank team, analysts, and external writers to translate internal research and ideas into external‑facing content that supports firm messaging
Drive collaboration between the newsroom, think tank, and communication teams
Manage the editorial content calendar, including monthly production milestones, deadlines, and contributor assignments
Support rapid response alignment through the newsroom, ensuring consistent and timely communication around key topics
Manage external vendor relationships (writers, designers, videographers) to execute high‑quality work on time and on brand
Develop internal SOPs for review, approval, and amplification of content
Provide operational guidance and mentorship to junior team members, especially across the think tank function
Qualifications and Skills
7–10+ years of experience in communications, corporate communications, journalism, or content leadership — ideally in healthcare, biotech, investment, or policy
Demonstrated ability to execute within an established strategy that spans media, content, and strategic positioning
Skilled writer and editor, able to translate ideas into clear, compelling content
Experience building or scaling a modern content platform, podcast, or video‑first brand
Strong network or familiarity with investor and policy media outlets a plus
Proven ability to coordinate among multiple internal teams and external partners
Comfort operating in a lean, fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment with evolving priorities
