Senior Credit Officer – Commercial Real Estate

Role Summary:
The Credit Officer Sr, CRE oversees underwriting, credit analysis, and controls for the Commercial Real Estate Lending Business. The role manages risk identification, management, and containment for complex financing of transitional commercial real estate transactions across many markets and asset types.
Key Responsibilities
Promote application of bank and business unit policies and procedures; support compliance with regulatory requirements.
Manage performance of direct reports through timely feedback and formal performance reviews.
Develop business‑level processes to identify and manage risk in line with bank requirements.
Ensure compliance with credit requirements and guidelines.
Lead underwriting, due diligence, and analytical review for new transactions, managing third‑party diligence providers and guiding the approval process.
Build relationships with internal leaders to identify key risk areas and quantify impact.
Develop and implement reporting requirements for loan portfolio performance.
Provide ongoing management of loan portfolio performance, conducting periodic reviews to identify emerging problems.
Identify structural enhancements to improve credit and reduce risk exposure.
Champion solutions, operational efficiency, and cost reduction in the credit department.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of credit experience within Commercial Real Estate lending.
Strong understanding of credit risk in CRE financing across various collateral types.
Experience in senior leadership roles with significant credit authority and portfolio management.
Knowledge of banking regulatory environment and policy development.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years total CRE credit experience.
Expertise in structuring CRE transactions including bridge financing and participations.
Portfolio acquisition and sales experience.
Experience with deal management, portfolio management, and restructuring.
Education
University degree preferred.
Compensation $200,000 – $400,000 plus benefits.
