The Project Engineer is responsible for establishing and updating work packages according to project standards and tender requirements, managing the technical and planning aspects of the work packages. Coordinating with vendors, class, Technology and Reliability for engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning, testing, documentation, and handover of equipment or services. Ensuring compliance with Enhanced Drilling’s policy and procedures.
Area of Responsibility
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) management according to Enhanced Drilling standards
Ensuring project planning and status reporting is performed to Enhanced Drilling standards
Conduct planning and pre-project kick-off meetings for relevant work parks to facilitate and assign roles and responsibilities to facilitate the successful completion
Responsible for establishing Work Package according to project standards, in a clear and detailed manner
Review the scope of supply, client requirements, and prepare approved drawings, BOMs, SDLs, and other relevant documents.
Prepare and submit to the PM for approval Purchase Requisitions for the responsible work packs.
Responsible for the receipt and quality verification of all SDL items prior to DCC receipt and upload.
Responsible for maintaining OnWorks work pack status, including but not limited to Status (cost, quality, and time risk ratings), the status of the process, and associated forms
Technical responsibility for the work package(s) regarding change control, site surveys, engineering, design, interface control, planning, pre-fabrication, installation, mechanical completion, commissioning, acceptance test, handover to operations, final documentation, and invoice control.
Ensure the work pack deviations follow the proper management of change process
Work directly with the Vendors and Technology and Reliability to ensure these tasks are completed and the work pack is delivered without any outstandings from Class or deviations from Enhanced Drilling policies.
Co-ordinate with class or other 3rd party involvement – as the case may be.
Organize and monitor installation work, attend FATs, receive inspection, etc and prepare acceptance documentation for the WP (MC and Comm.)
Liaise with the Project Manager, Project Planner, and the rest of the Project Team to assist in making necessary schedules, budgets, and determining critical paths.
Competence
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or a related field
3–5 years of experience in project planning, preferably in the oil & gas or MPD industry
Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar)
Strong understanding of drilling operations and logistics a plus
Experience in asset management or inventory systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Maximo, etc.) is a plus
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
High level of ethics and integrity
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances
Commitment to health, safety, environment, and quality stewardship
Ability to handle stressful situations under pressure to achieve desirable outcome for company and customer
Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage diverse global teams across time zones
HSE Responsibilities
Comply with all Enhanced Drilling HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Actively participate in HSE training, safety meetings, and audits.
Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.
Support Enhanced Drilling’s “Zero Harm” culture and demonstrate safety leadership.
Stop any work that appears unsafe and elevate as necessary.
Integrate HSE requirements into project planning, execution, and documentation.
Participate in HAZIDs, risk assessments, and management of change processes related to project work packs.
Ensure vendors, contractors, and internal teams comply with HSE standards during procurement, installations, and commissioning.
Support incident investigations and lessons‑learned reviews related to project execution.
Promote a proactive HSE mindset throughout all stages of project delivery.
Other (travel (onshore/offshore), cooperation requirements/matrix org. etc.)
Within local Houston area between offices as necessary (workshop/warehouse and office)
International travel to Head Office (Norway) and customer locations for meetings, training, competency initiatives, management reviews, rig installation and operations handover.
Offshore as required
General Authorization and terms (RACI) Understanding of authorization process and ability to report up to proper management if errors and corrections occur, as needed. Authority per Enhanced Drilling Authorization Matrix.
