Job Summary MRI Technologist PRN at AdventHealth, Bolingbrook, IL.

Location 500 Remington Boulevard, Bolingbrook, IL 60440.

Schedule PRN requirement: 4 shifts per month, including a weekend. Hours: 6:30–5 pm or 12 pm–10:30 pm. 1 holiday rotating call.

Shift PRN; as needed.

Responsibilities Key responsibilities include:

Perform high‑quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.

Review patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).

Screen all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.

Operate all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.

Position patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high‑quality imaging.

Prepare and administer IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitor patients for adverse reactions.

Perform and document daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.

Follow department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time‑out procedures prior to starting exams.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.

Educate patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.

Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notify appropriate personnel when inventory is low.

Qualifications

High School Graduate or equivalent (required).

Associate degree preferred.

One or more years of work experience preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of diverse backgrounds.

Knowledge of MRI scanners and procedures.

Ability to learn and grow with new technology.

Customer service skills.

MRI safety knowledge.

General computer skills and PACS.

Basic IV skills.

General physics and anatomy knowledge.

Basic Life Support – CPR certification required.

ARRT – Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT‑MR) required or

American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) required and

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred.
