The Head of the Tamil Department is responsible for providing academic leadership, managing departmental activities, and ensuring high standards of teaching, research, and administration. The HOD will guide faculty, coordinate curriculum development, promote the academic and cultural growth of the Tamil Department. Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
Plan and supervise all academic programs, curriculum design, and syllabus updates for Tamil courses. Ensure effective teaching-learning practices in line with university and NAAC norms. Encourage innovative teaching methodologies and digital learning tools.
Faculty Management
Allocate workload and monitor faculty performance. Guide faculty in research, publications, and career development. Organize faculty development programs, seminars, and workshops.
Student Development
Supervise student mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluation. Encourage participation in cultural, literary, and linguistic events. Address student grievances related to the department.
Research & Publications
Promote research culture among staff and students. Encourage publications in reputed journals and participation in conferences. Facilitate minor/major research projects and funding proposals.
Administration
Maintain departmental records, timetables, and reports. Coordinate with examination and academic sections for smooth operations. Prepare annual departmental budgets and resource requirements.
Liaison & Representation
Represent the department in academic council and management meetings. Collaborate with other departments and external institutions for academic initiatives.
