Commercial Manager – Chartering, Newbuilding & Fleet Strategy
Core Group Resources seeks an experienced Commercial Manager to lead chartering, newbuilding, and fleet sale & purchase initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of our fleet, optimize commercial operations, and build lasting client relationships in a fast‑paced, international shipping environment.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute commercial initiatives across chartering, newbuilding, and sale & purchase projects to drive strategic growth.
Initiate, negotiate, and finalize commercial contracts, including newbuilding, chartering, and S&P agreements.
Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing clients and identify new business opportunities.
Coordinate closely with technical, operations, and finance teams to analyze project feasibility and ensure seamless execution.
Monitor market trends and provide strategic insights to support fleet planning and positioning.
Follow up on contract execution to ensure compliance and timely completion of projects.
Act as a backup for the Senior VP Commercial when necessary, representing the department in internal and external meetings.
Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and competitiveness.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the company’s wider commercial objectives.
Requirements
8‑10 years of maritime shipping experience, with at least 3‑4 years in chartering within the dry bulk sector.
Strong expertise in dry bulk markets, contract negotiations, and client relationship management.
Proficiency in analyzing voyage and fleet performance using tools such as Excel.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with an outgoing personality.
Strong analytical thinking and logical deduction abilities.
Ability to work independently and handle complex projects with minimal supervision.
Willingness to work beyond standard hours to accommodate global clients and operations.
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with newbuilding projects and sale & purchase transactions.
Maritime-related academic background (e.g., maritime degree or higher education in science).
Knowledge of international maritime regulations and certifications.
Fluency in additional languages.
Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree in maritime studies, science, or related fields; master’s degree is advantageous.
Proven success in negotiating and managing complex commercial contracts in a maritime shipping context.
Other Requirements
Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings and industry events.
Capable of working in a fast‑paced, 24/7 business environment.
