Base pay range $20.00/hr - $22.00/hr

Summary The Quality Technician will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and analyzing products and processes to ensure they meet the company's quality standards. This role will involve working closely with production teams to identify defects, implement corrective actions, and continuously improve quality control processes within the manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Monitor parts during various stages of part realization by inspecting random features and ensure the operator is recording required information on the inspection reports.

Verify job packet for completeness and accuracy including proper sign-offs at the completion of a job order.

Verify 1st Piece inspections are completed and spot check critical / random features as dictated by part configuration.

Read and understand drawings to effectively inspect parts for conformance.

Knowledgeable in GD&T and its application relative to part inspection.

Analyzes defective parts to determine reasons for dimensional variation, such as faulty machining, assembly problems, set-up, tools or fixtures.

Follows all prescribed quality procedures and serves as an advocate of our quality system.

Assists in the development of computer-based inspection plans including gage selection and frequency based on established Sampling Plans.

Aids shop floor personnel in 1st piece inspections, as well as, difficult to measure features.

Capable of utilizing a variety of manual inspection gages effectively including micrometers (outside, inside & depth), vernier calipers, as well as Trimos, profilometer, Tally Round.

Any additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Participate in productions meetings, take notes.

Participate in ECN (Engineer Change Notices) PCN (Production Change Notices).

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two years of experience CNC machining or CMM operation. Six months experience in an Inspection environment.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings and routings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to record process notes and document continuous improvement ideas. Must be able to clearly communicate co-workers and supervisor verbally.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be skilled utilizing trigonometry to develop solutions to inspection / manufacturing problems.

Reasoning Ability Ability to solve inspection problems drawing from one's experience and develop new approaches. Must be able to correct interpret GD&T on drawings and discern any differences from how the CMM goes about measuring those specific features.

Inspection Skills Must be well versed in the use of hand inspection tools, including but not limited to: micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gages, Dimetron, Sunnen Gages, gage blocks, gage pins, surface plate, etc. CMM skills as described elsewhere.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical machine gantry. The employee is frequently not exposed to any fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually low. This is an environmental controlled office area.
