Scope of Position The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s mission focuses on integrating quality patient care, education, teaching, and research. The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) assists the Nurse Manager in leading a team of care providers to deliver patient‑focused care, promotes a healthy work environment, and cultivates collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The ANM operationalizes the Medical Center’s mission, vision, values, and goals, supports the nursing professional practice model, and contributes to the ongoing operations of the Nursing Department.
Position Summary The ANM assists with the planning, organization, direction, and evaluation of patient care operations for a designated area(s) on a 24‑hour basis. Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, the ANM manages, guides, coaches, and evaluates the work performance of patient care staff in a designated area. Ongoing collaboration with other patient care departments/areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations and services is essential.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a major in nursing.
Required: Baccalaureate degree in nursing; Master’s in Nursing or related field preferred. Current Ohio RN license.
Two to three years of clinical experience in a patient‑care setting.
Current certification in nursing administration or an area of clinical expertise; or certification must be achieved within the eligibility period. Prior demonstration of leadership skills and related responsibilities.
