Operations Technician - Animal Facility LFB USA

Responsibilities

Daily animal care activities including feeding, animal observations/identification of clinical concerns, and nail trimming.

Husbandry activities such as cage change/cleaning, use of power wash and chemical dispensing equipment, and general facility sanitization and support.

Milking of rabbits and standard support activities to meet production goals and adhere to established schedules.

Proper basic restraint of rabbits to facilitate general animal care, transfers, and sample collection.

Technical skills including IP injections, which may include IM, IV, and SC injections.

Animal identification applications such as ear tags, tattoos, and RFID transponders.

Support for natural and artificial insemination breeding procedures (including restraint) and kindling/weaning procedures.

Utilize computer and paper‑based systems to accurately document and record information to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.

Provide veterinary care and animal treatments as assigned, depending on skill level and support needs.

Identify safety issues and initiate corrective actions to reach resolution.

Identify and communicate animal welfare concerns.

Exhibit a sound understanding of applicable animal care and use guidelines.

Provide weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; 0–3 years laboratory animal experience (Associates), 0–1 year experience (Bachelor’s), or no previous experience required.

AALAS certification at the ALAT level is preferred.

Ability to work in a team‑oriented production environment with attention to detail, accuracy, and basic organizational skills.

Strong attention to detail and compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and good interpersonal skills with team members.

Basic working knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, internet).

Ability to push/pull wheeled carts weighing up to 500 pounds.

Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50 pounds.

Duty requires long periods of standing and/or sitting for an average of six hours a day.

May be exposed to materials and chemicals that are potentially allergenic.

Duty requires repetitive motion of hands and wrists.

Salary The salary range for this role is $23 to $31 per hour. Compensation will depend on factors such as relevant skills, experience, and internal equity.
