Responsibilities
Maintain security in buildings, towers, and other posts of an adult correctional facility; intervene during emergencies or altercations and gain physical control of offenders.
Supervise the movement of offenders inside and outside the facility; conduct periodic counts; search offenders and their quarters for contraband; escort/transport offenders to predetermined locations.
Supervise offenders during housing, work activities, recreational and religious activities.
Conduct inspections for health and safety hazards; prepare and submit reports on offender violations, unusual behaviors, mechanical deficiencies, or security breaches.
Discuss minor adjustment problems with offenders; refer serious problems to appropriate staff; promote rehabilitation by encouraging worthwhile activities.
Supervise visits with offenders; search visitors, offenders, buildings, and grounds for contraband.
Perform duties in accordance with established rules, regulations, post orders, and specific instructions; receive general administrative direction.
Perform other related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Special Requirements
All employees, full‑time and part‑time, are required to attend and complete the Basic Training classes administered by the Department of Corrections.
May require completion of Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training.
May require completion and maintenance of firearms certification training.
May require possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.
All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed.
