Overview

Radiation Therapist delivers ionizing radiation as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist to restore and enhance quality of life, eradicate or diminish disease and maintain health. The Radiation Therapist performs simulations, schedules patient treatment, and completes associated billing. The therapist may be hired for satellite radiation oncology locations and may be asked to assist at other satellites as needed. Responsibilities

Provides Radiation Therapy services as an essential member of the Radiation Oncology treatment team, delivering quality care for each patient undergoing a prescribed course of treatment. Work includes handling emergencies, contingency management, and coordinating treatment delivery. Uses ARIA and related paperless systems effectively. Maintain professional conduct and follow policies for treatment delivery and patient care. Facilitates continuity of care by communicating with team members, coordinating appointments, setting priorities, and coordinating daily activities to support treatment delivery. Assesses daily patient responses to treatment and refers to appropriate management when indicated. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care (Adolescence, Adult, Geriatric). Adheres to ethics, institutional standards, and department procedures. Maintains state/national certifications in Radiation Therapy and protects patient confidentiality. Applies Radiation protection principles at all times. Completes clinical competency annually and follows all policies and procedures. Performs daily and periodic quality assurance checks, monitors schedules across modalities, detects equipment issues, and adjusts schedules to ensure proper staffing and timely treatment. Completes patient time-outs as required. Communicates effectively with Radiation Oncologist, Physics, and Supervisor regarding issues or delays. Promotes positive interpersonal relations within the department, ensures proper billing for performed procedures, and participates in cross-training activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

High school or equivalent Graduate from an accredited school of Radiation Therapy Technology; new graduates considered 2–4 years' program in radiation therapy or a degree in radiography with a certificate in radiation therapy Experience with Varian machines preferred (Varian Truebeam) Experience with Varian EMR, ARIA 15.6 preferred Knowledge of basic dosimetry, MLC, CT Simulation, and IMRT Strong technical skills and a work ethic that inspires others Excellent verbal and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications

1 year experience as a Radiation Therapist (preferred) Bilingual in one of threshold languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, Armenian, Arabic, Farsi, Khmer, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, Vietnamese), preferably Mandarin or Spanish Required Licenses/Certifications

Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH) Radiation Therapy (ARRT) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); card must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed before expiration (LA City only) Compensation

The hourly rate range for this position is $53.00 - $87.45. When extending an offer of employment, USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, key skills, internal equity, and applicable laws and contractual considerations. Note:

The role is for satellite locations and may require travel between sites.
