Responsibilities
Evaluates patients, develops plans and goals, and implements treatment programs for improvement of physical or developmental dysfunction and independence in activities of daily living.
Continuously reassesses treatment plans and goals.
Educates and instructs regarding home programs and preventive measures as appropriate to patient, family, and others.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department in a timely manner.
Communicates with patient, family, physician, and other healthcare providers regarding patient care.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Participates in educational programs, in‑services and other meetings as required.
Participates on special project teams and other related duties as assigned and requested.
Qualifications
Less than one year of experience in physical therapy. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Bachelor’s degree required. Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred.
New Mexico License of Physical Therapy required.
BLS required at time of hire.

Basic computer skills required.
Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the specific setting.
Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical function and developmental disorders.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan of patients served.
Oversees and insures a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and immediate environmental well‑being of the patient.
Promotes patient/caregiver self‑determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
Is a patient advocate.
Other duties as assigned.
