Plant Operator (Cylinder Loader/Filler)
Location: Ankeny, IA – S. Creekview Dr. – Acetylene production & filling
Responsibilities
Performs cylinder analyses & ensures compliance with government and company standards.
Calculates gas mixtures to meet requirements and documents results, ensuring safe mixtures.
Selects cylinders and valve combinations to ensure compatibility with the mix and compliance.
Operates control panels, containing valves and pressure gauges, and scales to accurately measure gas mixtures.
Completes all necessary documentation to accurately record all production actions.
Complies with company procedures and government regulations relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials.
Safely operates a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse/material-handling equipment.
Loads/unloads cylinders on/off pallets; ensuring they are strapped in.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school degree or GED required.
Mechanical aptitude.
Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures applicable to this position.
A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience. In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system preferred.
Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.
