Location Asheville – Gerber Facility
Role This role collaborates closely with the leadership team to align HR initiatives with business goals, nurture our unique company culture, and attract, develop, and retain top talent.
Responsibilities
People Strategy and Development:
Collaborate with department heads to identify talent needs and create targeted talent acquisition and retention strategies.
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding:
Oversee the full‑cycle recruitment process, ensuring a positive candidate experience and attracting diverse, high‑caliber talent.
Maintain all recruitment platforms, ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date open positions.
Partner with hiring managers to define job requirements, conduct interviews, and make data‑driven hiring decisions.
Develop and implement effective onboarding programs to facilitate seamless integration for new employees.
Performance Management and Employee Development:
Implement and enhance performance management processes, including goal setting, continuous feedback, and performance evaluations.
Maintain records of employee performance reviews and follow up with managers as needed to complete the reviews.
Support managers in identifying employee development needs and providing learning opportunities.
Employee Relations and Engagement:
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting open communication and a culture of respect.
Address employee relations matters promptly and effectively, promoting conflict resolution.
Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, recognition, and satisfaction.
Compensation and Benefits:
Develop and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent.
Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws and monitor industry trends to optimize rewards offerings.
Culture and Diversity:
Lead efforts to reinforce and promote Poppy Handcrafted Popcorn's unique company culture and values.
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster a diverse workforce.
HR Compliance and Policies:
Ensure compliance with all HR‑related laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Regularly review and update HR policies and procedures to reflect best practices and legal requirements.
Reports To CFO

Classification Part‑time, non‑exempt
Estimated Weekly Hours 20+ hrs, Monday – Friday
Requirements
Minimum 3‑5+ years of HR experience, including at least 3 years in people‑management roles.
Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
SHRM‑SCP or SHRM‑CP certifications preferred.
Strong employee relations and manager coaching experience.
Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business goals into actionable HR initiatives.
Ability to analyze problems, develop creative solutions, and make informed decisions.
Experience with change‑management strategies and implementation.
Experience working in a fast‑paced startup or entrepreneurial environment is a plus.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills.
Ability to respect, communicate and collaborate across cultural differences.
Understands business operations and the financial implications of HR decisions.
Demonstrates a commitment to professional development and staying current with best practices.
Proficiency with HR technology and software.
