Job Summary The Nutrition Tech reports to the Clinical Nutrition Supervisor and provides functional direction and coordination of Diet Office activities to ensure quality, timeliness and excellence of service. The role assures patient diet orders are correctly implemented according to procedure and takes initiative to increase patient satisfaction by problem‑solving and/or referring to problems as needed. The Nutrition Tech interacts favorably with all others to provide prompt, accurate, and courteous service, maintains required reports, records, files, and supplies, and ensures patient menus are printed, distributed, completed, and checked.
Primary Job Duties
Provides functional direction and coordination of Diet Office activities to ensure quality, timeliness, and excellence of service.
Performs diet changes and meal menu checks according to procedure. Manages tray and card identification systems on patient and meals. Maintains Cardex.
Completes meal tallies for patients and childcare.
Maintains clear, timely, and accurate communication with NS Leadership, Staff, and Nursing to provide optimal food service.
Visits patients as assigned to distribute menus, helps patients make appropriate menu selections, assists in checking patient satisfaction with food service, and refers or solves problems as needed.
Collects completed menus from patient, checks menus and/or refers menus to Registered Dietitian to check according to procedure, and organizes menus appropriately. Assists with nourishment and late tray assembly and delivery.
Performs clerical duties pertaining to Diet Office. Completes daily charges and verifies daily Meditech Charge Report.
Is a member of the department QI team and works on special projects as assigned. Participates in Strategic Planning.
Completes nutrition risk screens on admits and follow ups and charts in the electronic medical record.
Adheres to CCMH and departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains Diet Office records, files, reports, and supplies according to CCMH Policy and Procedures.
Obtains continuing education to maintain CDM/Nutrition Certification.
Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
Education
High School diploma or GED. Completion of Dietary Manager’s Course within 2 years of hire date or equivalent.
Licensure
CDM within 2 years of hire.
Experience
Six months clerical or food service experience.
