Pre‑K Speech Language Pathologist – Portland area We are seeking preschool speech‑language pathologists at our CDS Reach site in Portland for 40‑hour per week, calendar‑year positions. The SLP will complete speech and language evaluations for children ages birth‑to‑5, provide direct services and tele‑therapy for children identified with a speech and language delay, consult with classroom and program teachers, and work with a multidisciplinary team of professionals. Travel is required. Current licensure, a criminal history records check, and a DHHS background check are required.

Responsibilities

Complete speech and language evaluations for children ages birth‑to‑5.

Provide direct therapy and tele‑therapy services for children with speech and language delays.

Consult with teachers and support staff, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Participate in IFSP/IEP team meetings and contribute to goal development.

Conduct observations, gather documentation, and administer assessments in a non‑discriminatory manner.

Write and maintain evaluation reports, treatment plans, and required therapy documentation.

Ensure timely completion of written evaluations that comply with Chapter 101.

Coordinate billing and authorization with CDS and third parties.

Travel to multiple locations to deliver services.

Perform additional duties as directed by the Site Director.

Minimum Qualifications

State of Maine Speech Therapist License (required if billing MaineCare).

Maine Department of Education Certification 293 (optional for non‑MaineCare billing).

Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting, and reference check.

Required Knowledge, Abilities & Skills

Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Working knowledge of child development, disabilities, family systems, and special education methods.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to build rapport with children and parents in a variety of settings.

Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.

Ability to adapt therapy techniques to different personalities and environments.

Ability to collaborate with early childhood teams and travel to multiple locations.
