Pharmacy Supervisor - Pharmacy Service
Arnold Palmer Children Hospital Pharmacy Department is seeking a Pharmacy Supervisor. The Pharmacy Supervisor coordinates activities of team members providing pharmacy services for assigned service areas under the direction of the Supervisor, Pharmacy Operations II.
Position Summary The Pharmacy Supervisor performs all normal functions of a licensed pharmacist and fulfills pharmacist duties to allow team members to engage in a variety of clinical and administrative activities. The role maintains current knowledge in pharmacy, management, and medication safety through active participation at conferences and reading journals. Responsibilities include interviewing prospective team members, coordinating orientation, overseeing scheduling, coaching, and ensuring compliance with safety, infection control, and legal requirements. The position also involves system and policy implementation, process improvement, and managing human resources tasks such as hiring, performance counseling, and maintaining attendance records.
Responsibilities > Perform all normal functions of a licensed pharmacist and fill pharmacist role to allow team members to participate in clinical and administrative activities.
Maintain current knowledge in pharmacy, management, and medication safety issues through local and national conferences and journals.
Interview prospective team members with other team members and participate in the selection process.
Coordinate new team member orientation.
Participate in all personnel management issues involving team members.
Oversee scheduling and provide supervision to achieve clinical and operational goals.
Conduct coaching plans or assist in their development for pharmacist and technician team members.
Demonstrate leadership skills in verbal and nonverbal communication.
Assist in coordinating development and implementation of systems, policies, and procedures for effective pharmacy services throughout Orlando Health.
Participate in Process Improvement and Quality Management programs and assure compliance of assigned areas.
Meet regularly with the management team to plan, revise, or implement new services, policies, procedures, and budgets.
Meet regularly with team members to share information, provide guidance, and resolve issues.
Assure compliance with Safety and Infection Control practices and legal requirements.
Manage various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with policies and legal standards.
Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain an open communication process with all team members and physicians.
Collaborate with Clinical staff to implement and maintain clinical programs and education for team members and service areas.
Assist in coordination of MUE, CAPS, and other programs as needed.
Qualifications
Pharmacy degree (Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy) required.
License as a pharmacist by the Florida Board of Pharmacy or obtain licensure within 4 months of hire; license must be maintained as active.
One year of hospital pharmacy practice experience (or ASHP accredited residency).
Demonstrated experience in pharmacy management, leadership, and quality improvement.
