Family Support and Stabilization Clinician | FSS Pittsfield Job Overview

Family Support and Stabilization Clinician (FSS) provides services to families that receive support from the Department of Children and Families, with the goal of strengthening parenting capacity, improving family dynamics, ensuring child safety, preventing out-of-home placement, and assisting reunification when possible. FSS assists families in learning and connecting to appropriate community services, including mental health and substance use programs for all family members. Responsibilities

Provide the quantity and quality of services to families involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) in accordance with the specific FSS models (Comprehensive or Family Stabilization). Work with parents/caregivers to achieve the goals established by DCF in the referral. Complete an assessment to determine strengths and needs and establish long-term services. Develop a person-centered treatment plan in collaboration with the client and/or parent/caregiver(s); with required consents, in consultation with DCF and other providers. Review and modify the treatment plan as required by policies and procedures by monitoring intervention effectiveness, identifying potential risks, and taking steps to minimize risk when necessary. Provide or arrange transportation for clients to appointments, crisis/respite services, community agencies, etc., if needed. Review/development of a risk management/safety plan in collaboration with the client and/or parent/caregiver(s). Address child safety and welfare issues within the context of community resources, school advocacy, law enforcement and legal matters, and medical/behavioral health needs. Identify community resources and develop natural supports to support and sustain achievement of treatment plan goals. Provide or secure support and crisis/emergency services for the client and family members, via face-to-face contact, phone contact, or an on-call system. Assist the client and/or parent/caregiver(s) to collaborate with other necessary individuals (Case Managers, Probation Officers, Judges, District Attorneys, Attorneys, Teachers, Physicians, etc.). Report emergencies or critical incidents to the direct supervisor or designee. Provide additional visits and wraparound services to support clients and families for emergency support in accordance with FSS models. When on-call, ensure families in crisis receive adequate support, in person or telephonically. Be flexible with scheduling visits, available to provide services evenings and weekends if needed. Engage in ongoing collaboration with mental health providers, DCF social workers, schools, law enforcement, and other community providers. Participate in DCF meetings to discuss ongoing concerns, challenges and recommendations; participate in Utilization Reviews as required (frequency varies by case and DCF Area Office). Maintain regular communication with the DCF team by providing weekly updates on engagement and progress in treatment. Assist in providing information on topics such as appropriate discipline and setting schedules; focus on stressors unique to Hispanic/Latino, Cape Verdean and Portuguese populations including acculturation processes. Assist parents/caregivers in improving parenting skills and reducing behaviors that affect child safety in the home. Administrative Responsibilities / Record Keeping

Maintain detailed records of work with the family, including progress notes and collateral contact notes. Complete all agency, government and funding trainings and health requirements (OSHA, Sexual Harassment, etc.). Complete paperwork per agency requirements (court letters, change of placement forms, referrals, assessments, treatment plans, safety plans, progress notes, consent forms, etc.). Complete timesheets, mileage forms and other required documentation accurately and submit it in a timely manner. Minimum Qualifications
