Overview
We are seeking a hands-on
Controller
to join a private equity–backed manufacturing company. This individual will be responsible for building a strong accounting foundation, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving process improvements to support growth. The Controller will work closely with the CFO, ownership, and operations team to establish best-in-class financial practices, strengthen internal controls, and provide critical insights that enable data-driven decision making. Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash management. Implement and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures. Partner with CFO on ERP system implementation and ongoing system optimization. Develop and enhance cost accounting practices, inventory tracking, and manufacturing-related financial processes. Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis by providing accurate financial data and insights. Coordinate and manage external audits, tax compliance, and regulatory filings. Build, mentor, and lead the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Assist CFO with financial due diligence, M&A integration, and private equity reporting requirements. Qualifications
Proven experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a private equity–backed or fast-growth environment. Manufacturing industry background is required, with strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and plant operations. Strong technical accounting expertise and knowledge of U.S. GAAP. ERP system experience, with successful implementation or system upgrade preferred. Track record of building and developing high-performing accounting teams. Excellent communication and leadership skills with ability to partner cross-functionally. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred. Seniority level
