The Role As an Accountant at Fera Pets, you will manage and maintain our financial records to support the company’s growth. Your responsibilities include day‑to‑day accounting tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll. You will ensure accuracy across financial processes and provide reliable data to guide business decisions.
Working closely with various departments, you will track expenditures, monitor budgets, and prepare financial reports. You will also assist in implementing financial systems and tools to enhance accounting efficiency. This role reports directly to the Senior Finance Manager.
This position is based in Los Angeles, CA, but we welcome remote candidates who can travel once a month.
Key Accountabilities
Accounts Payable
Process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and payment runs accurately and on time
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Manage freight, co‑manufacturing, and marketing invoices tied to COGS and trade spend
Maintain vendor records and ensure compliance with company policies and tax requirements
Accounts Receivable
Process customer invoices and credit memos using EDI invoicing
Monitor customer payments, apply cash receipts, and reconcile AR subledger
Track and resolve chargebacks, deductions, and short payments with retailers and distributors
Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams to ensure billing accuracy and timely collections
Manage Sales Tax Nexus compliance across multiple states, including registration, reporting, and filing requirements for CPG and eCommerce sales
General Accounting
Support the month‑end close through AP/AR reconciliations, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
Maintain accurate documentation to facilitate monthly/quarterly audits, ensuring compliance
Assist in preparing financial reports, balance sheets, P&L statements, and cash‑flow forecasts
Collaborate with Marketing and Operations teams on KPI tracking
Help implement and refine accounting systems and workflows as the company scales
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting workflows
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a CPG or e‑commerce environment; public accounting experience is a plus
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Cin7, SPS)
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time‑management skills
Proficiency in GAAP accounting principles and practices
Knowledge of e‑commerce platforms and supply‑chain or inventory accounting is a plus
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Self‑motivated with a collaborative, proactive approach

Salary $100k - $110k, depending on experience
