Your Future Team As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state’s environmental laws. See details about what we do. This position is a member of our Corpus Christi Regional Office.
Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
Respond to highly complex spill and emergency response incidents, conduct advanced investigations, make recommendations for restoration of affected environments, and conduct follow‑up investigations.
Prepare, complete, and review reports related to highly complex spill/emergency response work and remediation plans; make recommendations regarding cleanup findings performed by third parties.
Provide specialized technical assistance to the public, regulated community, responsible parties, agency staff, and other interested groups; assist in developing emergency response procedures; participate in response meetings and drills; and prepare technical papers for presentations.
Operate, maintain, and calibrate various monitoring instruments; conduct specialized sampling activities and evaluate analytical results for compliance with applicable regulations.
Qualifications Required Education & Experience
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field, plus two years of full‑time experience in environmental activities.
One year of full‑time experience in the field of environmental activities may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
OR another master’s degree in the listed fields, plus one year of required experience.
OR a doctorate degree in engineering, science, environmental studies, or related fields.
Career Ladder Progression: Two years of full‑time experience as a Natural Resources Specialist II at TCEQ.
Transcript / College Hours or Coursework See instructions on how to attach documents. A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required if needed to meet the qualifications listed above.
Work Schedule Standard business hours are M‑F, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Corpus Christi Regional Office.
