Sign-On Bonus We are currently offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus for Rental Field Service Technician new hires. $2,500 is payable after 90 days of employment, and the remaining $2,500 is payable after 180 days of employment.

Company Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Rental Field Service Technician in Baltimore, Maryland.

Role Summary The Rental Field Service Technician applies advanced‑level mechanical aptitude to perform maintenance and repairs to Caterpillar and allied rental equipment in the shop and at customer job sites; applies troubleshooting techniques and determines proper repair procedures; prepares parts requisitions.

Key Responsibilities

Apply advanced‑level mechanical aptitude to perform maintenance and repairs.

Utilize troubleshooting techniques to determine proper repair procedures.

Prepare parts requisitions for repair activities.

Work independently and as part of a team.

Interact professionally with customers.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience performing advanced‑level mechanical service and repairs to Caterpillar and related equipment.

High school diploma or GED required.

Thorough knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical and related components.

Advanced mechanical aptitude.

Ability to repair Caterpillar and allied components and machines.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Self‑directed and well organized with ability to prioritize workload.

Proficiency in technical software, databases and manuals.

Excellent driving record; ability to obtain CDL and/or DOT certification.

Can work additional hours as needed.

Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 70 pounds. Close, distance, peripheral, depth vision and ability to adjust focus are required.

Compensation Starting compensation range: $28.11–$39.45 per hour. Actual base salary may vary based on experience, skills, education, location and other factors. Includes incentive program linked to performance.
