Title : Project Engineer
Location : Lafayette, IN
Details : 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role
Pay Rate : $63.00 – 66.00/hr. with benefit inclusions
Job Summary This role supports Caterpillar’s product build processes by collaborating with cross‑functional teams, managing documentation, and ensuring smooth execution of NPI and production builds. The position involves hands‑on assembly and testing support, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating engineering changes and materials to maintain quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with operations, assembly, supply chain, and engineering teams to support product builds.
Document and maintain assembly instructions using MESA.
Identify and log build issues during AQE (Advanced Quality Engineering) events; track resolution.
Enter and manage engineering alerts and changes.
Coordinate and support rework activities as needed.
Provide hands‑on assistance for sub‑assembly and end‑of‑line product testing.
Troubleshoot and resolve assembly line and test cell issues.
Manage engineering‑procured materials for NPI and pre‑production builds.
Support 2–3 NPI projects and 4–5 production models concurrently.
Years of Experience and Education
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
3–5 years in engineering or manufacturing environments.
