Compa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Construction Engineer 1 position at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM.

Pay: $40/hr - $47/hr

Location: 100% Onsite – Los Alamos, NM (TA-55)

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required

Work Schedule: 4/10s preferred; flexible with other shifts

Clearance: Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance

U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET‑accredited) or equivalent field experience

Must be available for 100% onsite work (no hybrid or remote options)

Impact As a Construction Engineer 1, you’ll play an essential supporting role in LANL’s infrastructure and nuclear facility installation projects. You’ll work directly with senior engineers to execute construction oversight and ensure alignment with technical and safety requirements supporting national security missions.

Responsibilities And Duties

Support field construction activities through inspections, documentation, and reporting

Apply standard engineering techniques and established processes to project execution

Verify work conforms with approved drawings, standards, and specifications

Support problem‑solving efforts with field teams and design engineers

Participate in safety and quality meetings; assist with material verification and status tracking

Minimum Qualifications

Understanding of basic engineering and construction principles

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills

Desired Skills

Exposure to DOE or DOD projects

Knowledge of codes and standards such as ASME, NEC, and IBC

Experience in construction, facility systems, or mechanical/electrical work

Education And Experience Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field

Desired: 1–2 years of practical engineering or construction experience
