The MEPF Superintendent supports the General or Senior Superintendent in overseeing the MEPF areas of a construction project through technical expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire protection.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage daily field operational objectives, timelines, and goals.
Monitor the overall progress of a project and work site, reviewing processes and practices within teams to ensure consistency, efficiency and quality of delivery.
Participate in monitoring the project schedule and budget and work with Senior Superintendents to maintain and update.
Coordinate with the subcontractor's office for recovery plans where necessary, meeting regularly with staff and subcontractors to discuss progress, obstacles, challenges and assist in removing barriers to completing work.
Review construction documents to determine contractual requirements.
Record and maintain information and produce reports such as personnel, production, project logs, status and other operational data.
Manage the safety of a job site by actively walking the site, participating in inspections, training and meeting with staff and subcontractors regularly.
Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications.
Verify and document that all materials installed for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and work with owner and trade partners to resolve issues.
Assist in needed updates to the Procore QAP (Quality Assurance Manual) manual, as well as developing new sections as new scopes of work are identified.
Keep up with industry changes and regulatory standards and trends to stay abreast of issues in the field.
Act as a liaison between the different trades requiring power, water, conditioned air to complete their work.
Assist with planning of work in relation to phased work and/or flow of work for the project as it relates to mechanical/electrical, plumbing and sprinkler systems.
Assist with reviewing cost of work related to RFIs and change orders for MEP work.
Assist with reviewing RFIs submitted by MEPF contractors to ensure they are complete.
Assist with scheduling to ensure MEPF items have adequate time to accomplish their work.
Ensure the work performed by the MEPF contractors adheres to the project's details and specifications.
Review drawings to account for completeness between MEP systems, such as mechanical equipment shown on electrical drawings, plumbing drains coordinated with mechanical equipment, and building automated control cabinets having power.
Review shop drawings with programmer and installer to ensure installation will meet design criteria.
Support Field Leadership and project management team to build quality in every project.
Work in concert to manage overall MEPF coordination and complete periodic constructability reviews of the model.
Coordinate with controls and fire alarm contractor to ensure there will be no conflict between trades.
Review TAB reports for completeness and accuracy.
Work with the commissioning team to ensure each MEPF trade is following the commissioning plan.
Work with the fire alarm contractor in design to ensure the “matrix” is completed and stays up to date.
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or related field
5-7 years of experience in the construction industry working with commercial and/or industrial projects
In‑depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing techniques
Working knowledge of laws and regulations governing large construction projects and building codes
Knowledge of construction documents, processes and a wide range of construction materials, methods, techniques and concepts
Knowledge of industry and manufacturer’s standards and installation requirements
Advanced knowledge of principles and best practices of building envelope systems
Proficient in MS Office
Valid Driver’s License Required

Location and Compensation Houston, TX – $125,000 to $165,000 per year
