Lead Recruiter – NextGen Engineering for Insight Global
Position Summary:
One of Insight Global’s major clients are seeking a Fiber Designer to join the Operational Communications division within a local utility. General responsibilities include:
Perform fiber design functions requiring competencies in project planning, building, and maintaining the fiber optic infrastructure.
Independently develop, design, evaluate, select, and/or apply guidelines, procedures, and fiber design techniques and standards in an economically efficient and sound fiber designing manner.
Maintain and update documentation for fiber optic networks, including inside and outside plants.
Require a strong understanding of fiber optic infrastructure construction, maintenance, and spatial planning.
Skilled at creating and documenting splice plans for construction projects and updating Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Network Engineering to create detailed designs, ensure optimal network performance, and contribute to the successful implementation of fiber optic projects.
Required Qualifications / Skills:
5+ years of experience with ArcGIS design software specifically for fiber network design.
Knowledge of applicable network protocols including TCP/IP, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870, etc.
Plusses:
Prior experience supporting an electric utility/energy provider.
UTC Level 1 & 2 – Fiber Optic Designer Certification.
Base Pay Range $35.00/hr – $52.50/hr.
Compensation Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefits Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401(k) retirement account access with employer matching. Employees are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
