BASIC PURPOSE:

Musket Corp. is seeking a Vessel Tracking Analyst. This position plays a key role in supporting refined products trading and logistics by maintaining accurate, real‑time vessel movement data that underpins commercial decision‑making, market analysis, and operational execution. This position ensures vessel data integrity across global refined product flows—validating and enhancing information from third‑party providers to align with internal trading systems, analytics platforms, and business priorities. Acting as a critical link between traders, operations, analytics, and technology teams, the analyst enables improved market visibility, supply optimization, and risk management. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, commercial awareness of energy trading dynamics, and a meticulous approach to data accuracy and process improvement.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Vessel Tracking & Data Integrity

Monitor and validate vessel movements for refined product cargos across key global trade lanes, confirming destinations, onboard product types, voyage status, and discharge ports.

Ensure data accuracy and timeliness across trading and analytics platforms, with a focus on refining and distribution flows (gasoline, diesel, jet, naphtha, etc.).

Reconcile discrepancies between third‑party vessel data, AIS feeds, and internal records to maintain a reliable single source of truth.

Identify patterns, anomalies, and trends that may impact trading strategies or supply‑demand dynamics.

System Stewardship & Automation

Serve as a co‑owner of the internal vessel tracking system, ensuring reliability, usability, and consistency with trading and analytics needs.

Partner with data engineering teams to enhance automation of vessel entries, voyage status updates, and product classification.

Support integration of predictive data feeds and market intelligence into dashboards and reporting tools (Sigma Computing, Snowflake).

Maintain system documentation and contribute to a scalable support model through knowledge sharing and process standardization.

Trading & Stakeholder Collaboration

Act as a primary liaison between trading desks, analytics, operations, and IT to ensure tracking data meets real‑time market and operational needs.

Translate trading and operations requirements into actionable data enhancements or process changes.

Support traders and analysts with ad hoc data queries, reports, and insights to drive market understanding and commercial opportunities.

Provide feedback on vessel data quality to external providers and internal stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field required.

Experience:

Prior experience in or exposure to energy trading, logistics, or refined products markets preferred.

Familiarity with vessel tracking platforms, AIS data, and maritime logistics systems is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to identify data/process inefficiencies and implement structured solutions.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Strong analytical mindset with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Commercially aware and curious about refined product flows, market drivers, and trading operations.

Proficient in data tools such as Excel, databases, and data visualization software (Sigma Computing, Snowflake preferred).

Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings into business context.

Organized, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, trading‑driven environment.
