Job Description | Staff Accountant The Staff Accountant operates in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment to perform the accounting of private equity-owned upper-upscale and luxury hotels. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role requires strong knowledge of accounting, high attention to detail, and a commitment to intellectual curiosity.
Duties
Perform the month-end accounting close for multiple hotel investments, which involves but may not be limited to:
Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
Upload and validate third-party financial data.
Prepare monthly closing accruals and journal entries for debt, cash, insurance, property taxes, etc.
Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and consolidations along with variance analytics.
Help prescribe accounting treatment for complex financial transactions.
Provide support during the hotel budget and forecast preparation.
Communicate with third-party hotel management companies on hotel financial reporting matters.
Assist with quarterly and annual reporting processes and applicable year-end audits.
Support closing prorations for hotel acquisitions and dispositions.
Research and respond to information requests from business partners.
Support ad hoc reporting and projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related business field required.
At least one year of experience in accounting, audit, or hospitality finance.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of ERP systems.
Florida residency with the ability to commute to our corporate office in Boca Raton required.
Preferred: Graduate degree in accounting and/or CPA license.
Preferred: Basic knowledge of Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
