Senior Validation/Test Engineer - Electrification
role at Caterpillar Inc. The Senior Validation/Test Engineer role is with the Caterpillar Electrification + Energy Solutions Division in Peoria, Illinois. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for delivering validation plans for Power Conversion products and systems that enable electrification-based solutions for customers. Primary responsibilities will include developing product risk assessments (design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) DFMEA, validation test plans and product validation metrics for new product introduction and in-production product improvement projects. Responsibilities
Lead the development and maintenance of electrification product validation plans. Coordinate and align DFMEA and validation test preparation project plan timelines with product introduction teams. Lead product design teams in the development of DFMEAs and ensure product requirements align with validation test plans. Collaborate with product development and test execution teams, revising DFMEAs with new risk discoveries. Develop reliability targets for new products. Create DFMEA-driven validation project plans and test procedures, collaborating with related teams. Support product design teams in analysis of test failure discoveries and lead creation of new test plans to validate design improvements. Prepare and report Product Validation metrics (risk criticality, reliability prediction, testing status) to NPI leadership and team members. What You Have
Degree:
Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical preferred). Technical Excellence:
Industry experience analyzing failure mechanisms of power conversion technology and applying problem solving to identify solution plans. Electrification experience strongly preferred. Experience:
Developing DFMEAs and pre-validation test planning with technical teams; writing technical documentation (test procedures); mentoring others; proficiency in Minitab, Pro/E, PLATO (e1ns preferred); proficiency in Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Quality & Analysis:
Accuracy and attention to detail; ability to handle large quantities of detailed information; cross-checking techniques; experience with quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards. Decision Making & Critical Thinking:
Ability to analyze situations and reach productive decisions; differentiates assumptions; evaluates past decisions for improvements; advises others in data analysis and decision-making. Project Management:
Ability to assemble and lead diverse project teams, deliver timely results; familiarity with estimating project cost and time; risk identification and contingency planning; regular project reviews and clear communication. Product Testing:
Knowledge of testing approaches to design, plan and execute testing strategies ensuring product quality; coordinates test plan execution including resources, strategy, schedules, processes and tools; supports design teams to include testing considerations in system design; recommends testing automation tools and techniques. Troubleshooting:
Approaches, tools and techniques to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in manufacturing or product development; advanced diagnostic techniques for complex problems. Desired Skills / Qualifications:
DFMEA methodology/training (AIAG or SAE J1739); Core International Standards for EV charging systems (IEC 61851); Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Other:

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00 Compensation and benefits vary by factors including location, knowledge, skills, and experience. Salary is one component of total compensation. Benefits:
